Dr Gareth Thomas qualified at The University of Birmingham in 1996 and completed his GP training in 2000. He has worked in hospital medicine completing posts in Psychiatry, General Medicine, General Surgery, Cardiology, Geriatrics, Paediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
His GP training included working as a civilian medical practitioner at an Army Barracks, being responsible for the rehabilitation services and supervising the on site physiotherapy and remedial gymnastic services. This involved a considerable amount of on site rehabilitation work.
In General Practice Dr Thomas continues his special interest in musculoskeletal medicine and is the musculoskeletal lead for his practice. He has been a medical student trainer since 2004. Dr Thomas also provides out of hours services and immediate care based in a hospital casualty department. He has significant occupational health experience and is a Health and Safety Executive appointee for both European Metal Recycling, and Grosvenor Restoration Ltd which includes health monitoring for employees working with lead.
